Less mess
LA JOLLA — Dentist John F. Weston, of Scripps Center for Dental Care, has replaced the impressions procedure of plastic trays, messy material and wait time with a new product called the Lava Chairside Oral Scanner C.O.S. from 3M ESPE. The procedure captures impressions digitally, using a n optical wand. Weston glides the tip over the patient’s teeth to capture video images, then displays them in real time on a touch-screen monitor. Weston’s practice is one of the first in California to offer the Lava C.O.S. and the dental industry is the first to benefit from this new imaging technology.
